How Pelckmans Uitgevers inspires avid readers with a smart app and generates extra opt-ins

Help visitors to the Pelckmans stand at the Antwerp Book Fair to find books in the publisher’s portfolio that match perfectly with their reading preferences. Generate extra opt-ins for the Pelckmans Uitgevers e-newsletter by means of a playful campaign.
Approach

With different publishing branches under its roof, Pelckmans Uitgeverij appeals to a diversified audience of reading enthusiasts: young and old, passionate foodies and nature buffs, thriller fans and news addicts. RAAK developed a fun-and-easy-to-use web app which enables visitors to locate their ideal selection of books in no time on the Pelckmans stand at the 82nd Antwerp Book Fair.

Through a playful Q&A on interactive screens on the stand, the Book Guru puts his wisdom to work and produces a personal book top-3 for every visitor. A customised flow for both youngsters up to 18 and adults hooks the attending readers up with those books that match best with their preferences. The tool was welcomed by the majority of visitors, given the choice of over 2000 publications available on the Pelckmans stand.

When leaving their email address, visitors got their personal top-3 delivered straight to their inbox, together with 3 additional reading tips. They were also invited to subscribe to the Pelckmans Uitgeverij e-news, and enjoy personalised reading tips and previews all year round. As an extra service, readers unable to attend the Antwerp Book Fair were able to temporarily consult the Book Guru through an online app.
